About

Maggie McAlexander Mendez is an international barbershop quartet and chorus champion, as well as an accomplished chorus leader and arranger. Her areas of expertise include artistic development, rhythm and pacing, and lyric delivery. Maggie is an experienced and energizing coach who seeks to make the most of every musical moment for ensembles at any level.

Maggie sang tenor in the 2013 Harmony, Inc. champion quartet Spot On and the 2017 Sweet Adelines International Rising Star champion Adrenaline. She won the 2011 SAI Chorus Competition with the Melodeers. She has been on faculty at over 20 youth barbershop events across the U.S. Maggie is now the associate director of Metro Voices in Alexandria, VA, and is the tenor of Supernova.

Arrangements

It's so important to sing songs you love! Let's talk about your song ideas and ensemble and see how I can help. Before we chat, consider where you want to perform this arrangement (contest, show, youth event, 8-part, etc.).

My standard fee per arrangement is $400. Especially complex or lengthy commissions may incur additional fees, which we would discuss up front.

I offer discounts on commissions for youth ensembles and events. 

Coaching

My favorite thing to do is coach — I would love to work with your ensemble!

I am a generalist with a background in musicality, vocal performance, dance, and theater. My superpower is making the most art out of every note on the page, but I coach across judging categories. 

​

Hourly rates:

• Quartets: $70

• Choruses: $100

• Youth ensembles (25 and under): $0, travel expenses only

​

Though in-person coaching is best, I offer virtual quartet coaching ($60 per hour).

If travel costs are significant, I'm happy to negotiate a lower rate to make this work for your group. Quality coaching should be accessible to all ensembles. Just let me know your limitations.
